The Gretsch Broadkaster range of tenor banjos was introduced in 1928, with the first ‘Fifty’ model arriving in 1929.
This particular example lacks any identifying serial number so we can’t be sure of its exact year of manufacture – we estimate it was made between 1936 – 1953. It is in exceptionally fine condition for a vintage banjo which would tend to suggest a date towards the later end of this timeframe.
The original case is very worn (see pics) and the handle has broken, but it still latches.
